Ellie Goulding, UK's coolest "Jewel"

Okay--so I have to admit, I didn't know who Ellie Goulding was before I heard a Bassnectar remix of her song "Lights"-- which is quite amazing if you haven't heard it before. Although I love her songs remixed, Ellie's music actually sounds better un-remixed (is that a word?). Since 2010 she has achieved great success in the UK. In fact she was one of two artists asked to perform for the Royal Wedding. Being friends with William and Kate just skyrockets her to a new level of greatness.

Besides the fact that she is chummy with the royals, Ellie makes great music. I'd actually like to to say she is the electro British version of America's Jewel. She has a similar high-pitched voice, and sings similar flighty chill songs like Jewel (without Jewel's nasal-y voice). Ellie actually has a very fairy-tale like sound, often featuring chimes, and electro beats. I can't think of another artist like Ellie, in fact I think she is extremely original. She even has straight teeth!!
